About this document
The February 2021 issue is built around an interview with Professor Gaëtan Mourmant, member of the faculty, who describes himself as a researcher-entrepreneur who enjoys approaching a question from a variety of angles while keeping in mind the importance of rigour in research and its impact through the real-world use of results. He recounts his career: after a five-year business school programme specialising in econometrics and statistics, he realised during his dissertation defence that the model he was presenting was excellent from a research and statistical point of view but that he did not master it sufficiently, lacking practical experience in management and entrepreneurship at the age of only 23. He therefore postponed his research ambitions to gain managerial and entrepreneurial experience, working for four years as a data scientist in a large financial group where he took part in the creation of a customer relationship management department. The issue continues with new members of the faculty, alumni news, the ARTIREV project, photo highlights, publications, media coverage, videos, admissions, management research news and a series of alumni voices on the health crisis. This trajectory illustrates a conviction shared by the institute, that management research gains from being conducted by people who have practised management themselves.
