The July 2015 issue wishes readers a wonderful summer before the September edition, and is devoted to the first thesis defences of the Business Science Institute, held in Geneva on 10 July. Cédric Baudet defended a thesis on the influence of user participation on the success of information systems, supervised by Professor Jean-Fabrice Lebraty, before a jury made up of Marc Bonnet, Emmanuel Josserand of the University of Technology Sydney Business School, Michel Kalika, Jean Moscarola and Alain Vas. Frédéric Favre defended a thesis on the manager facing adaptive performance, proposing a training scheme centred on the adaptive performance of middle managers, supervised by Alain Vas of the Louvain School of Management, before a similar panel. Vincent Mottet defended a thesis on tetranormalization and the strategic management of territories, based on the case of Greater Geneva, supervised by Marc Bonnet, with a jury also including Robert Cramer, State Councillor in the upper house of the Swiss Federal Assembly, former State Councillor of the canton of Geneva and originator of the Franco-Valdo-Genevan area project. The newsletter also announces the publication of the first book in the Business Science Institute collection at EMS Publishing: Isabelle Walsh's Découvrir de nouvelles théories, which sets out an applied, mixed and data-grounded approach to theory building for academic research and for managers engaged in doctoral work.
